In the Preferences window, click on the Presets tab along the top of that window. If you have Lightroom Classic CC, open your P references window by clicking on the Edit menu for PC or Lightroom menu for Mac. Finding your preset folderĭepending on which version of Adobe Lightroom you are using, there are multiple ways to find your preset folder. With the folder open, drag the XMP or LRTemplate files to your desktop. You can unzip the folder by double clicking on it. OS X and Windows both contain a built in tool to unzip folders. These files are the actual presets you’ll want to install. If you instead downloaded a Zip folder, you’ll need to unzip the files before you can use them. LRTemplate file, you can skip to step #3.
Presets will probably download as a ZIP folder, which contains the actual preset files. Once you’ve gotten the link to the files, save them to your computer in a location you can remember, as you’ll need them later. Some presets can be purchased, while others can be freely downloaded. Typically, you’ll find presets on a website, like those linked in this list. While presets may be stored differently, based on how they were created, they are all stored as basic files. If you don’t have Lightroom, you can get it from Adobe’s site or as part of their Creative Cloud Plan. Whether you are using Adobe Lightroom Classic CC, an older copy of Lightroom 6, or the newest Lightroom CC, you can easily install presets with this guide. I will install a Windows 10 PC next week & my intention is to simply copy the LR catalogue to the internal hard disk on the PC & plug in the external RAID to the thunderbolt port on the PC motherboard. (I have played with editing, but it is still far too restrictive.) I sync my entire library to the cloud, which I use on mobile devices for reference. It may be in the future that I trust Adobe to store & manage my master files, but not yet. I currently use an iMac where the LR Catalogue is on the internal disk & all the master image files are stored in an external RAID system (thunderbolt). My question is, how to I best prepare to move my entire system. This is because there are simply too many unexplained performance issues.
